Thumb splint for rhizarthrosis that relieves nighttime joint pain at the base of the thumb and limits the progression of osteoarthritis.

Indications for the EPITACT® thumb splint for rhizarthrosis

Does your thumb osteoarthritis wake you up at night? Find restorative sleep with the EPITACT® thumb splint!

At night or in any situation where you are not using your hand, the EPITACT® thumb splint for rhizarthrosis relieves joint pain at the base of the thumb and limits inflammatory flare-ups. It is indicated in cases of minimally progressed osteoarthritis.

This patented semi-rigid orthosis keeps the painful joint in a neutral resting position. This reduces the forces exerted on the joint and limits the progression of rhizarthrosis.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is rhizarthrosis?

Rhizarthrosis, or thumb osteoarthritis, corresponds to wear of the cartilage of the joint at the base of the thumb at the wrist (trapeziometacarpal joint). This irreversible condition leads to pain and gradually reduces the ability to perform daily activities. In the most advanced cases, a deformity of the thumb may appear.

Can you wear a thumb splint during the day?

The EPITACT® thumb splint for rhizarthrosis is specially designed to relieve you at night, during rest periods, and during inflammatory flare-ups. Wearing this type of semi-rigid orthosis serves to immobilize the joint; therefore, they are not compatible with daily activities. That is why EPITACT® has also created a soft orthosis that provides relief during the day while maintaining hand mobility.

How to choose the right size?

Using a measuring tape, measure the circumference of your hand just at the base of the four fingers (do not include the thumb). Then refer to the size guide available below.
