Indications for the EPITACT^® ski knee brace

Are you a sliding sports enthusiast but your fragile knee makes you fear returning to your activities? The Physiostrap^® Ski EPITACT^® prevents and relieves knee pain related to patellar pathologies (femoro-patellar syndrome, instability and patellar tendinopathy, sprain, osteoarthritis, ligament injury, meniscal injury…).

How does it work?

The effectiveness of this EPITACT^® support knee brace relies on the combined action of ultra-performance fabrics and a double silicone tendon that provides excellent patellar support and good knee stability during repeated leg flexions. Completely flexible, it preserves freedom of movement and is suitable for all sliding sports (skiing, snowboarding, skating, hockey, rollerblading, skateboarding…).

Usage tips for the support knee brace

• Wash before first use.
• For optimal fit: before use, do not apply moisturizing cosmetics and minimally wash the silicone bands with water and soap to remove impurities.
• To limit the risk of skin irritation, place the ski knee brace without tightening it on the thigh and do not wear it in a lying or prolonged sitting position (sleeping, traveling by car, etc.). In case of painful sensation, swelling, discomfort, or any other abnormal reaction, stop use and consult a doctor.

Contraindications

• Do not use this support knee brace on a skin lesion.
• Do not use in case of arteritis, significant varicose condition, sequelae of phlebitis, or edema (lymphatic/venous) of the leg and/or thigh so as not to hinder circulation. In case of doubt, seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist.
• Do not use with a compression stocking.

How to maintain your support knee brace?

The ski knee brace is machine washable at 30 °C or hand wash (without scrubbing) with water and soap. Do not use detergent or stain remover (bleach, acetone, solvent, etc.). No chlorination. No ironing or steam. No machine drying. No dry cleaning. Discard and replace the device as soon as cracks appear in the gel or degradation of the fabric or seams.

When and how long to wear the ski knee brace?

The Physiostrap^® Ski EPITACT^® support knee brace is designed for beginner or experienced athletes with patellar pain (patellar syndrome, tendinitis, osteoarthritis, etc.). It should only be worn dynamically (in motion) and can therefore be used for prevention or to relieve pain as it preserves muscle capital. Outside of sports, you can wear the medical knee brace all day during daily activities.

How to choose the right size?

Using a measuring tape, measure the circumference of your knee in a semi-flexed position starting from the center of the kneecap. Then refer to the size guide available at the bottom of the page. If you are unsure between two sizes, prefer the smaller one.

What is its lifespan?

This support knee brace is made of durable fabric and quality materials that give it an average lifespan of 6 months, provided that usage and maintenance instructions are followed.

What is the difference with the Physiostrap^® sport EPITACT^® knee brace?

The ski knee brace is specifically designed for sports that involve repeated knee flexions. Compared to the Physiostrap^® sport, the tendon that encircles the kneecap is double to enhance joint support. Additionally, the silicone bands on the thigh and calf are different to provide a stronger hold on the Physiostrap^® ski.
