Indications for the sport bunion corrector
Is your bunion painful in your sports shoes and hindering your performance?
The EPITACT® bunion corrector relieves joint pain and repeated contact on the "bunion" during sports. It is designed to realign the big toe dynamically while walking or running. By straightening your big toe, it thus improves the quality of your foot placement, the propulsion phase, and your performance.
The patent of the EPITACT® sport orthosis
The effectiveness of the sport bunion corrector device relies on its unique design that allows for realignment of the big toe joint while walking. To achieve this, it incorporates an external silicone tendon EPITHELIUMFLEX™ that both exerts traction on the big toe to straighten it and protects the bony growth from pressure and friction in the shoe.
Usage tips for the sport bunion corrector
- Check that your big toe is still laterally mobile (mild to moderate stage).
- Wash the sport orthosis before the first use.
- The level of correction is adjustable by varying the tension of the tendon on your foot: on the first day, do not attempt to correct the big toe. Then, over 10 days, gradually correct the deviation by pulling the device backward.
Contraindications
- Do not use the sport bunion corrector on a skin lesion.
- Do not use if the big toe is no longer laterally mobile.
- In cases of individuals with diabetes, arteritis, polyneuropathy, lower limb neuropathy, or varicose ulcers: consult your doctor or podiatrist, and monitor your foot during use.

How to maintain your bunion corrector?
The sport bunion corrector is machine washable at 30 °C or hand washable (without scrubbing) with water and soap. No bleaching. No ironing or steam. No tumble drying. No dry cleaning. Discard and replace the device as soon as cracks appear in the gel or degradation of the fabric or seams.
What is a bunion?
A bunion is a deformity of the big toe. It tilts inward while the first metatarsal deviates outward. Gradually, the end of this bone, called the metatarsal head, protrudes on the side of the foot, forming a bony bump: the "bunion." A bunion is an irreversible deformity; it cannot disappear over time.
How to choose the right size?
Using a measuring tape, measure the circumference of your foot just before the "bunion." Then refer to the size guide available at the bottom of the page. If you are between two sizes, it is better to choose the smaller one.
Is the sport bunion corrector compatible with orthopedic insoles?
If you are already wearing orthopedic insoles, consult a healthcare professional (doctor or podiatrist). Depending on the reason for which the insoles are prescribed, combining them with a bunion corrector device may risk "over-correcting" the deformity.
Can it cause irritations?
Cases of allergies to silicones or fabrics of the sport orthosis for bunions are rare. Like any medical device, the orthosis has undergone a biocompatibility assessment. However, contact of silicone with the skin may cause superficial irritations/redness. As it is a product containing textiles, washing is recommended before use.
