Usage tips for the osteoarthritis knee brace
- Wash the knee brace before the first use.
- Do not wear for prolonged periods while sitting (leg bent at more than 90°) or lying down.
- For optimal fit: before use, do not apply moisturizing cosmetics and wash the knee brace, at least the silicone elastic bands, with water and soap.
- To limit the risk of skin irritation, an adjustment period may be necessary. Thus, wear the PHYSIOstrap® less than an hour during the first uses, then gradually increase the wearing time up to a full day.
- In case of painful sensation, edema, discomfort, or any other abnormal reaction, stop using the knee brace for osteoarthritis and consult a doctor.
Contraindications of the PHYSIOstrap knee brace®
- Do not use the medical knee brace on a skin lesion.
- Do not use in case of arteritis, significant varicose condition, sequelae of phlebitis, or edema (lymphatic/venous) of the leg and/or thigh so as not to hinder circulation. In case of doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
- Do not use with compression stockings.

How to maintain your knee brace for osteoarthritis?
The medical knee brace is machine washable at 30 °C or by hand (without scrubbing) with water and soap. Do not use detergent or stain remover (bleach, acetone, solvent, etc.). No chlorination. No ironing or steam. No machine drying. No dry cleaning. Discard and replace the knee brace as soon as cracks appear in the gel or degradation of the fabric or seams.
What is gonarthrosis?
Gonarthrosis is the medical term for knee osteoarthritis. It is a wear of the cartilage of the knee joint, either between the femur and the kneecap (femoro-patellar joint), or between the femur and the tibia (femoro-tibial joint), or both. This irreversible deterioration leads to pain and progressively reduces mobility and the ability to carry out daily activities.
When and how long should the knee brace for osteoarthritis be worn?

It can be used for prevention or to relieve pain. Made of durable fabric and quality materials, it has an average lifespan of 6 months (provided that the usage and maintenance instructions).
How to choose the right size?
Using a measuring tape, measure the circumference of your knee in a semi-flexed position starting from the center of the kneecap. Then report the measurement in the size guide accessible at the bottom of the page. If you are unsure between two sizes, prefer the smaller one.
Can the medical knee brace be worn for sports?
The medical knee brace PHYSIOstrap® is designed to be worn daily by active people but not necessarily athletes. In the context of physical activity, EPITACT® created the PHYSIOstrap® SPORT, more suitable thanks to its design that offers more support to suit the intense conditions of sports (large amplitude movements, sweating…).
Can this knee brace relieve me in case of a meniscus tear?
The knee brace for osteoarthritis is not suitable for meniscal injuries. It is a patellar knee brace that prevents and relieves fragile and painful knees (femoro-patellar osteoarthritis, patellar syndrome, patellar tendinitis, ligament fragility, etc.).
